Signature Brew X Rodney P
As with all our collabs the artists are heavily involved, this one is no different. Rodney P met the team at Signature Brew back in July, where ideas were explored, and recipe / concept was developed. He then returned in August for the brew day, where he got stuck into all aspects of brewing the beer.
The first half of the brewing method is as standard with a base Golden Ale hopped with British stains East Kent Golding and Challenger providing delicate floral, herbal and sweet fruit notes. Added to this are a combination of American and French oak chips that have been soaked in American Bourbon. The oak chips have the dual purpose of both imparting flavour and acting as a vehicle to carry precious bourbon to the beer.
With the oak we’ve used French oak planted during Napoleonic times originally for shipbuilding that is offering the beer more subtle spicy notes, with more silky oak textures. This is paired with bolder American Oak from the Appalachians that is characterised by hints of cream soda, vanilla and even coconut.
