Blog: The Greatest Supergroups Of All Time

To celebrate the release of our latest Supergroup IPA Bundle, we've had a playlist of the best supergroups of all time on rotation at the brewery.

Like all of the worlds greatest musical collaborations, these four beers have made a name for themselves as hoppy heavyweights in their own right but, when they come together, they're nothing short of a supergroup.

What's more, it's also offers a massive saving of 30%... Anyway, with that in mind, here's a list of our favourite musical super groups to be enjoyed alongside a selection of some of the best craft IPAs going.

Order the supergroup here, and enjoy our favourites below.

Them Crooked Vultures

Lead by rock and roll's nicest man, but this time behind the drums, Them Crooked Vultures is the combined efforts of Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age), John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) and Dave Grohl himself... (Foo Fighters).

Prophets Of Rage

Formed in 2016, Prophets Of Rage is the brain-child of members of Public Enemy and Rage Against The Machine, alongside rappers Cyprus Hill and B-Real. Having only been active for a handful of years, the supergroup have only released an EP and one full-length studio album following the reformation of RATM. But in a political landscape such as the one we're in now, who knows, maybe more music could be round the corner...

Giraffe Tongue Orchestra

With a name as weird as its constituent parts, Giraffe Tongue Orchestra is the combination of Ben Weinman (Dillinger Escape Plan), William DuVall (Alice In Chains), Brent Hinds (Mastodon) and Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta). Likewise to Prophets Of Rage, though, Giraffe Tongue have only put out one album, so far, with 2016's Broken Lines.

Czarface

Comprising of 7L, Esoteric and Insepctah Deck from The Wu-Tang Clan, Czarface was formed back in 2013, but the supergroup expanded their ranks and released a collaborative album with the late and great MF DOOM, 'Czarface Meets Metalface' in 2018.

The Last Shadow Puppets

The brainchild of Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) and Miles Kane (The Rascals), The Last Shadow Puppets are a celebration of 60s and 70s baroque pop, offering up nostalgic textures and soundscapes. One for big fans of the retro vibes.

Boygenius

Another supergroup with very little material out in the ether, boygenius includes Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus. Their debut, self-titled EP came out back in 2018 and is a must-listen, especially for the followers of Phoebe.

Gnarls Barkley

Releasing one of the most defining songs of the naughties, 'Crazy', back in 2006, Gnarls Barkley is the combination of CeeLo Green and prolific hip-hop producer Danger Mouse. Literally, put this song on and it immediately transports you to the beginning of the century.

The Breeders

Most famous for being the side-project of the bassist of Pixies, Kim Deal enlisted the help of her identical twin sister Kelley, Josephine Wiggs (The Perfect Disaster) and a plethora of other members over the years to form one of the most-loved indie rock bands of the 90s, gaining famous support from the king of grunge himself, Kurt Cobain.

So there we have it: the greatest supergroups and musical collaborations of all time. Who did we miss?

This list is best enjoyed with a delicious craft IPA, so grab a selection of 4 different heavyweights with our newest Supergroup bundle, available now on our webstore.
